Announcement: New Buses Added To Puerto Vallarta's Growing Transportation System

Wed. May/30th/2018.

Restaurant Week

Coming soon to Puerto Vallarta: 98 modern new buses including air conditioning, security cameras, information screens and a payment system for prepaid credit cards!

If you've ever taken the traditional buses in Puerto Vallarta before, you know this is an exciting feature, especially during the nearing summer months where the weather can be downright unbearable!.

Each of these buses will be operating on the main routes of Puerto Vallarta, serving tourists and locals while running all hours of the day and night. Already in affect is a new night service shuttle called the Buho (meaning ‘Owl' in Spanish), starting at midnight, designed as a safe method of transport serving industry workers from hotels, restaurants and more.

Puerto Vallarta is gradually phasing out the older buses, replacing them with newer models designed by DINA, the popular Mexican Automotive producer. Eight of the new buses have already been put into operation, with an additional 90 integrated into the fleet between now and December 2018. By then, 332 new units will make up Puerto Vallarta's growing public bus system.

“Puerto Vallarta is one of those destinations where visitors feel comfortable using our public transportation system to explore the city,” Javier Aranda Pedrero, Director of Puerto Vallarta's Tourism Board said in a statement. “We are eager to provide a world-class bus system worthy of Puerto Vallarta, not only to our visitors but to our local community, many of which work to make Puerto Vallarta an international tourist destination.”

According to the Tourism Board of Puerto Vallarta, the DINA buses run on gas and will lower the pollution in the city, a goal the entire country has been trying to achieve as more and more tourists visit Puerto Vallarta each year.
