Puerto Vallarta grows in tourist confidence
June 24, 2021
Puerto Vallarta continues the tourist reactivation with a view to the promising summer, within the framework of the Jalisco plan for the 2021 pandemic, which has caused the port to have very low rates of contagion and hospitalization for Covid-19, as reported by local authorities.
Given these results, the governor of the state of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro, announced the adjustments to this plan, which will bring positive expectations for the tourism industry during this summer season.
As part of the efforts between state and municipal authorities and the tourism industry to achieve good results in the fight to eradicate COVID-19, the Jalisco Health Board offered new measures, including the increase in capacity to 80% of the Hotels.
For their part, the restaurants will be able to operate up to 75% of their capacity, increasing their operation by one hour until 1:00 am and managing to stay 8 people per table as a limit.
Bars and clubs will work with 40% of their capacity and will increase their operation by one hour, until 4:00 am.
Meanwhile, cultural spaces such as cinemas, theaters, forums, museums, galleries, workshops, etc., increase their capacity to 75%, the same percentage for shopping centers and department stores, while casinos rise to 60%.
The parks and urban forests will be 75% in reception of visitors and the areas that were closed can now be opened to the public.
In events such as weddings, special celebrations, among others, they can increase their occupancy to 300 people in closed spaces (1 person each for 4 square meters) and 600 in open spaces (1 person for every 2.5 square meters), going from 5 to 6 hours of operation.
For the meetings industry, the Exhibition and Convention Centers may operate with up to 3,000 people simultaneously as long as the space is greater than 10,000 square meters and a limit of 6,000 people per day.
The low demand in hospitals and the decrease in positive cases for Covid-19, have helped the tourist reactivation in Puerto Vallarta and throughout the state to continue with firm steps. Also, the good progress in vaccination generates confidence to have a very promising summer season.
Since it was implemented as a requirement for American visitors to present a negative COVID test upon return to their country, to facilitate this process, a group of hotels apply free tests to their American guests with very isolated positive results, and barely decimal places in the percentage.
29,993 tests were applied at the Puerto Vallarta International Airport from February to April, of which only 116 were positive, that is, 0.38 percent. While in 11 hotels where the free test was applied in the same quarter , 12,649 were negative and there were only 24 positive cases in total, that is, 0.18 percent.
“Undoubtedly, the strict application of the biosafety measures indicated by the Jalisco government's Health Board have allowed progress in the recovery with gradual and firm steps, and today we can say that there are good results, since Puerto Vallarta leads the tourist recovery of beach destinations in the country, according to various public and private sources, ”commented Luis Villaseñor, acting director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Promotion and Advertising Trust.
The management of sanitary protocols will continue to be applied strictly, this being the basis to safeguard the health of all visitors, Vallartans and the tourism industry of Puerto Vallarta, and thus continue to offer the best experiences in one of the most important destinations nationwide. and international.
