April 27 to May 7 - The XI Festival Vallarta Azteca of International Folklore

Final Month- Mercado Los Mangos
May is the final month of the market season at Los Mangos Library, with vendors at the open air establishment bringing their locally sourced produce, baked goods, coffee, clothing, jewelry and other artisan offerings to the venue to the delight of area locals from 9:30 to 2pm each Saturday. The weekly market also features live music and other entertainment along with an onsite food court and childrens craft tent, so this seasonal marketplace holds interest for every member of the family.
May 7- Salty Paw Jazz Orchestra @ The Jazz Foundation

These talented musicians routinely draw packed houses for their creative stylings, which include Big Band style instrumentation inspired by free flowing experimental genres such as jazz, rock and swing music. Perhaps most impressive of all, this group of artists formed just 7 months ago, giving audience members a firsthand look at their flowering musical talents in action. A 100 peso entry fee goes directly to supporting the band, which relies exclusively on donations for funding.
May 14- International Altruism Festival

May 15-31: Restaurant Week

Guests to these upscale eateries during Restaurant Week will be invited to enjoy special three course fixed price menus at substantial discounts from typical dining rates. Since its inauguration in the early 2000s, Restaurant Week has remained one of the most essential events among culinary enthusiasts in the area, embracing a rapidly spreading global trend by offering the general public access to exquisite experiences at reduced prices to raise awareness of the local cuisines distinct quality.
For the 2017 celebration of Restaurant Week, menu prices for guests will range between 269 and 399 pesos (approximately $14 to 21 USD as of April 2014), and the event will spotlight 7 first time participants in the event. This special fixed rate represents a discount of over 50 percent when compared to the price of a typical meal at these high end establishments, although this flat dining rate does not include tips or beverages consumed during your meal.
May 19 to 21- The XI Entrepreneurial and Business Congress
Puerto Vallarta is home to an ever expanding network of mobile professionals who find the beautiful backdrop of Puerto Vallarta as an ideal setting to conduct their international business remotely. For this reason, the area is a recognized hotspot for high profile meetings and corporate retreats, and one of the largest set for 2017 is the 11th Entrepreneurial and Business Congress set to take place at the citys Friendly Hotel on May 19th through the 21st.
This conference is intended to bring the areas professional network together for the purposes of career development, with an array of visionaries from multiple industries sharing their insights in lectures and open forums on topics including impact investment, global finance law and emerging technologies relevant to entrepreneurs. Registration for the conference is 1000 pesos (approximately $58 as of April 2017) and is open through the event.

Part of this special yearly event is the Vallarta Pride pin, a distinctive button that identifies visitors as supporters of the movement as well as offering discounts and surprises at participating establishments. Another high profile event taking place during this celebration of pride in the local LGBTQ community is the International March Against Homophobia, which takes place just before the main festivities on May 17th, but reflects the month-long emphasis on welcoming these visitors to Puerto Vallarta.
May 28th- 2017 Puerto Vallarta Taco Festival
The taco is a street food staple throughout Mexico, and this popular yearly celebration puts the typically humble dish on the pedestal it deserves. The annual Taco Festival offers locals and residents alike the chance to taste a spectrum of signature flavors in a single event, spotlighting traditional Mexican recipes such as tacos al pastor and birria. This festival will take place in the citys Marina Vallarta neighborhood, at Valapanza Restaurant all day from 11am, so be sure to bring your appetite.
Last Week of May: Puerto Vallarta Anniversary
May 31 will mark Puerto Vallartas 99th year as a municipality as well as its 49th year as an official Mexican city, and the town celebrates its rapid development into the globally desirable tourist destination it is today with this observation period that spans over a week up to the big day. The areas already vibrant nature will be even further enhanced by locals and businesses, who come together in shared recognition of this modern coastal paradise with a citywide display.
